| November 14, 2005: These pages have not been
touched in 3 years and even then only slightly. They will not be
touched again. I removed the link to them some time ago but
understand that there is still some interest even in old and outdated
content so I am putting the link back on the home page. But,
please understand that I have no expertise in this field, I cannot help
you, I do not know anything more than what is on these pages and, most
importantly, I am no longer involved in any toilet training activities
of any kind. |
| Disclaimer: Jake has been using the litter box now for some time.
While he learned how to use the toilet, he mostly chose not to... a lot.
So to save the carpet, I gave him back his litter
box. I get a lot of mail with various questions about
different aspects of toilet training cats. Honestly, all I know is
on these pages. I've learned the hard way that answering individual
emails on the topic of toilet training is not a good idea for me. Much
better you should go to the
Kitting Toilet Training Mailing List Page. I really don't know more. Honest. Sadly, Pizza passed away on May 18, 2002. |
| A lot has happened in the years that I've been adding
to these pages. I've had pretty good success and many huge laughs and
met lots of toilet training buddies. When I started, I had Jake and
Bubba. Bubba died in 1997 and Pizza came to live here several months
later...
I actually started this section of the website in
April of 1996. This was my first entry written then. |
| I have two cats. Bubba is 8 years old - calico, fixed
and about 15 pounds but he looks bigger - a solid bruiser but a real
lover. Jake is 5 years old - gray, fixed and about 12 pounds. They are
both really nice cats but doesn't everyone say that about their cats? Anyway... About 3 years ago I decided to toilet train them. I got a book. I got a plastic gizmo for the toilet. I got everything but religion. They both learned how to use the toilet but neither of them thought it was a good idea and I lost faith and gave up. The day I gave them back their litter box they loved me to pieces. BUT, I'm sick of litter and now I've got religion and we're going to make it this time - this would be a good place to put a WAV of the Rocky theme, doncha think? One thing that kept me sane during the last experience was an online friend. I found one in Joyce Randall whom I met on Prodigy. She was trying the same thing with her kitty and we swapped messages every day. She was a wonderful support group. One day after I cleaned up one of Jake's entries into the "I refuse" campaign, I checked my snail mail and found a card from Joyce - it was a sweet card with a pen and ink of a cat on the front and a nice note inside. Then I happened to turn the card over and found:
I have it in a frame on the back of the toilet and laugh out loud every time I see it. I still hear from Joyce from time to time and she's one of the nicest friends I've never met. But this time I don't have a toilet training buddy so I'm using the web. I'll chronicle our adventures here in case anyone cares. (Note: Turns out LOTS of people care!) |
A lot has happened since then....
