My
Mother's parents (here's Grandma with me and my sister, Nancy) lived in
Oklahoma City when we were little and we lived in Missouri and then in
North Carolina. So we didn't get to see them much, but every visit
was magical. Here we are in their backyard. Grandpa built us
this roller coaster. Isn't it wonderful? It was the greatest
fun you can imagine. |
Nancy
and I take a ride down this death defying (at least that's they way it
seemed to us) hill on the roller coaster |
In addition to
the roller coaster, they also had a swing for us to play on. This
is me. My brother, sister and I were their only
grandchildren. And, even though we got to visit infrequently, they
had the best backyard, the best toys and the best playthings all waiting
for us every time. A trip to Grandma and Grandpa's was truly a
treat.

This is my sister (on the left) and me. I'm
guessing we're about 3 and 4 so it would be about 1955. Dig those
red shoes!! We we precious or what???

This is
my brother, Bill and my sister, Nancy. Since they both have August
birthdays and this was taken on Grandma and Grandpa's back room, and we
usually visited in Summer, I'm guessing that this was one of their
birthday cakes. I'm also guessing that just after this photo, it
was immediately turned into a pink mess of delicious. |

This is Bill and Nancy. The look on Bill's face
could be a commentary on the outfit. But, aren't they both just
adorable? Oh, I do remember that Mom made Nancy's dress. She
might have made Bill's suit, too. I'm on the right... age 4
or 5? I do remember that strawberry dress.

Still
at Grandma's. I loved that dollhouse. These orange outfits
were corduroy. They kind of look like jailhouse outfits now.
There was always so much to do at Grandma's. Coloring was very
big. |
Ok, so Bill -
who is now 48 years old - was maybe still compiling his outfit when this
photo was taken... Davy Crocket was huge and that is Bill's
coonskin cap which was his favorite for years until he found the towel
to pin on the back of his shirt as a Superman cape. Note the fancy
cars... This was probably in about 1955.
